Topic: The Church
Scripture Reading: Luke 2:25-35 (Pew Bible page 751)
Message Summary:
Simeon is usually recognized as the man who was promised that he would not die before seeing the long awaited Messiah. When Simeon saw baby Jesus at the temple courts he not only recognized him as the Messiah but also publically praised God for the joy of beholding the One who would bring God’s hope to all the people. What is less commonly known is the deep personal faith that Simeon demonstrates, no small thing in a religious environment tarnished by hypocritical religious leaders and a corrupt temple in Jerusalem. Even today, while the church of Jesus Christ is often less than perfect, God still uses the vibrant faith of individual believers to strengthen the church so that it can carry out its great work. Join with me as we close out 2019 and prepare to carry the church’s message of hope into a new year.
