Topic: Prayer
Scripture Reading: Luke 6:12-19
Message Summary:
Some people love to go shopping; others, well, not so much! How about you? Perhaps you shop like me when I go to the Sam’s club. My goal is to get in and out as quickly as possible—nothing against Sam’s! Or maybe you like to take your time and ponder over the latest fashions, much as you might if you were shopping at Old Navy or another one of your favorite stores. How often are our prayers like a trip to Sam’s—rushed as we quickly tell God about our wants and needs before falling asleep? Join with me this week as we focus on Jesus’ trip to the mountainside for prayer. Was his time in prayer more like a trip to Sam’s or a trip to Old Navy? Jesus’ prayer raises the question about the importance of prayer in our lives as his modern-day disciples and challenges us to go deeper. When we make the decision to spend more time with God, the wisdom and power that we receive will equip us to better face the challenges of life, to be thoughtful stewards of His gifts and to go back out into our communities with his life-changing grace and truth.
