Topic: Ministry

Scripture: Genesis 10:25, 11:1-9 (Pew Bible page 7)

Message Summary:

Several rockets were fired into the U.S. embassy compound in Bagdad last week.  One of the deadly missiles landed in the cafeteria yet fortunately no one was killed.  Our Scripture reading today takes us to that hotbed of rebellion, Iraq—the modern-day name for the ancient world power known as Babylon.  In particular we will focus our attention on the tower of Babel.  A closer look at monument to human achievement provides several words of caution as we begin to expand our ministry and outreach to the community here at the Aura Church.  Join with me today as we mine the riches of the Book of Genesis and contrast two family lines found deep with our heritage of faith.  Joktan and his descendants choose the way self-defeating pride in their journey to Babylon.  Peleg and his descendants choose the path of faith and obedience and carry God’s blessing to the Promised Land and beyond.
